Hi,

I recently purchased a lens off ebay - sigma 100-300 AF and was told by the seller it would be 99% compatible.
I started taking pictures and found that the err01 code comes up. It tells me to clean the lens connections etc but it still does not work.
After reading several forums I think that the lens is faulty as I can take pictures with the lens providing the AV is low.

I need a lens now that is compatible with the 550D with a range of something like 100-300/70-210/75-300 I don't have an awful lot of money to spend after forking out £50 on this lens. Any thoughts or suggestions on anything???
 
If the lens is faulty contact the seller for a refund. If he refuses take out a case against him - you will win and should get your money back.

I'd go with a 55-250 IS £120 second hand from MPB (or about the same new on ebay as grey imports from sellers of dubious repute)
