Lens for city break-Prague

Yeah I only took my old 400D with Sigma 24-70 as I said I wasn't planning on doing to much togging, how wrong was I. I missed my 7D and my 10-20. But still as I said I can't complain too much I was quite happy with what I came back with. See my flickr for Eastern Europe. 1 set for 400D and 1 for point and shoot.

So maybe 24 on full frame would be enough.
 
I think it's probably going to be fine tbh for your visit and once you've got the layout you can always return ;) I know I will be :D
 
I went in October last year, took my 17-50 and 35mm 1.8 for my DX and a Cosina 19-35 and 50mm 1.8 for 35mm film. As said before nothing there is particularly tall so not a massive problem on that front, I did find myself doing a fair amount of panoramics with the digital camera though. There are plenty of opportunities to get above the rooftops for a very small fee so you'll probably be wanting to get some of that scenery in :)

If you look through this set most of the film ones are with the Cosina as it did cover most eventualities, but there are also a few from the 50mm as well. I'm sorry the film ones are mixed in with the digitals but I think they're in the middle somewhere. They start with Weeping trees and end with The Jewish Cemetery :)

Truth be told I think I took too much, as I seemed to be able to get the shot regardless of what I had in front of my eye, there was also a handful of times that I really really wanted the wide. I would also recommend a lightweight tripod too, it really is a beautiful place, and I'm not sure I would want to stop shooting when the lights go down.

My biggest piece of advice is wear sturdy comfortable footwear. You'll know what I mean when you get there ;)

The holiday I took was just called Cities of Eastern Europe so that's what I called it :LOL:
 
am getting 14-24 from my neighbour :)
so that means I can rent something in lines of 24-70 :)

next part, is to get small but all tripod :)
I think meFoto Roadtrip will do it :)
 
Not sure you can take a sunrise in the evening, but my best images were taken at 200mm from about 800 yards away. Gives a fantastic backdrop.

so..
have acquired a travel tripod and will get a 14-24 from neighbour J
other lens will be pocket sized 50mm.
will have to do it…
24-70 hire will come up to £80 if not more so have decided not to go for it and use only them two

We still haven't planned routes for each day ... but that should not be a problem.
We hope to find nice places to dine and relax on the evenings as days will be purely sightseeing
 
Some nice places on the Old Town square, not the cheapest place in Prague but still reasonably priced compared to here :) When i was looking before i went there seemed to be some nice ones long the far side (the castle side) of the river but as it worked out we never actually went to any over there :)

If you fancy an ace cocktail bar i would recommend a little place called Hemingway Bar. Tiny little secluded place, romantic and extremely cool. It's the only place i've ever been where i had to make reservations to have a drink!

so my plan blew out of window...
guy that meant to borrow me his 14-24 had some kind of emergency and had to sell most of his kit on short notice so I wont have anything wider than 50mm with me ;(
