As above - got a major project coming up I'm hoping to create a series of blogs from, but need to photograph new equipment, inside and out.

Have struggled with this stuff before, defering to a PnS :bonk: (some examples here - not very good as can be seen).

So I'm hoping to hire/borrow a lens for this, to use with the 5D. Lighting will have to be ambient or my cheap-o flash bounced. I want to mix close ups with tight DoF with shots of overall chasis, depending.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated! I've found that my existing lenses don't get in close enough for this.

I tell you what your signature is crying out for a 24-70mm 2.8L this lens will do everything you have mentioned and more, It actually makes quite a good macro lens believe it or not... Quite expensive mind..

swmbo??? I'm guessing upper management??

a lightbox + wireless trigger for your flash, or similar way of getting a white background for the parts would probably be a good and cheap (£20ish) investment - you could then use any of your existing lenses really... though a macro lens would be ideal

What about a reversing ring? I know its not ideal but it is cheap. Once you have the kit setup on a tripod and the lighting sorted you can take shot after shot.

Thanks for the suggestions on this. Lighting improvements sound like a sensible place to start, and then maybe that 100mm macro 2.8 - seems to get good reviews.

Thanks

Stick a set of kenko tubes on your 50mm you'll get around 1:1 and a off camera diffused flash .
