Lens for my d60 on safari

Hi all, new to this site and 1st post.
I have recently bought a D60. I am going to do a safari in december, which lens do i need to replace the standard lens with? Budget upto about £500.

A good tele would be nice, 55-200 nikon may work well but might be a bit short for reach on a safari, could also take a look at the 70-300 by sigma or tamron all three are well under the budget

Why not look at hiring a lens, thats what I'm going to do from lens for hire.

Yeah, you could hire a lens if you think you may not use the lens as much afterwards.
