Lens for the Carribean

My girlfriend and I are going to St Kitts at the end of January. I've had a Nikon D90 for three years now but have always just used the kit lens 18-105 but I thought this was the ideal opportunity for an excuse to treat myself and expand my capabilities a bit more. What would people recommend for up to around £200 that will be suited this environment. My first thought was to just go for either the 50 or 35mm f/1.8.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Andrew

When it rains in the carribean it really rains! Thankfully (dependent on the time of year it) usually doesn't last long. So irrespective of which lens you take I would suggest you always have a shower cap with you to put over your camera, they really work well to keep the rain off.

If you have an 18-105m and you have a budget of £200, why not consider a teleconverter? If not I would go for 28m or 35m prime.
