Lens giving me 'FEE' sign

My walkabout lens Nikon 28-105 (3.5-4.5)D. Appears to have started to play up. It will focus, and all the rings feel fine and the zoom is ok. But if M, C or S mode it make no different. It will just not take the shot.

Have tried my other lenses on the Camera (nikon 70-300 and sigma 18-50) without problem. It is only this lens on the camera which give the FEE sign in the camera. First did it a couple of months ago, and was fine last month doing the remembrance photos, but has now played up again.

Is anyone able to suggest what I should be looking for, as the connectors on the lens looks fine as far as I can see. :help:
 
Check the aperture ring on the lens is set to it's minimum aperture setting f22, and locked in place with the little locking switch

Yep. That should do it.
