Lens help please

Hi folks,

I really need help on my new lens choice for my 60d. Looking at a sigma 18-250 but not sure on wither to get the macro or OS version. What are the + or -

It's for an every dayer replacing my canon 18-135. I'm looking for sharpness and flexibility

Here are the specs

Hi Douglas

Personally, I'm not a fan of the "all in one lens" - feel there is too much of a compromise with them. The 18-135 lens you have is a good lens for your body, I'd be tempted to save the money you were going to spend on one and put it towards another lens to complement yours...
 
Also consider that any lens that isn't 1:1 isn't really a Macro/Micro lens, more a Jack of all trades......
(not that i'm saying there's anything wrong with them)
 
Thanks folks. The problem is a like the use of 18-80mm but feel I need above the 135mm but I don't want the swapping of lens all the time. My dad has a 60d with the newest version of the tamron 18-270 which has the zoom but lacks a bit of sharpness.

Really don't know what to do now. Arrrrggggghhhhhhh

How often do you need above 135mm and how frequent would you be swapping. Personally, I'd be maybe thinking of how to upgrade this lens ...
 
I would imagine between the following

18-50mm - 40%
50-135mm - 30%
135-above - 30% if I had it
 
I had a tamron 18-270 but wasn't happy with it and got rid! I now have a canon 15-85 which is top notch, I was away with my brother on weekend and he has the new tamron 18-270 and it was rubbish I think a dodgy lens constantly hunting for focus in not that badder light!!

You could look at the Canon 55-250IS lens - it's a belter of a lens for the cost.

Wouldn't help with swapping lenses, but would give you a very good focal range with a decent cross over of focal length from 55 to 135. And it's a relatively compact, lightweight lens, so would fit nicely in a pocket / jacket or small bag...

Just another option to think about :thinking:
