I currently have a Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS lens.

How much better (if at all) is the Canon EF 70-300mm IS lens, partically for wildlife pictures?

Would it be worth selling my current 250mm lens and upgrading to the 300mm lens?

Cheers

The 70-300mm IS USM is a excellent lens definitely delivers more than its price would suggest - I've just sold mine as its not long enough on a FF body.

To answer a question with one - why are you thinking about upgrading ? Do you shoot below 250 or are you always at / near that length. The 70-300 is the better lens of the 2 (and has the price to go with it) and gives you an extra 50mm.

Don't think you'd be disappointed if you did upgrade and think you'd easily sell the 55-250 lens

I wouldn't change, the 250 should be fine. If it was me I would be worrying more about losing the 55-70mm by changing.

why would losing the lower end affect his ability to shoot wildlife ?

Thats why said, "if it was me". I have been caught quite a few times with the wrong lens on, not enough time to change and 70mm is to much. But then again never was I shooting wildlife.
