Lens hire for nature photography in Cambodia - would you?

Sorry, this is a work related question, and one which some specialist knowledge would be appreciated...

Background: I work for a travel company in Cambodia (link in my profile if anybody is really curious). We are starting to do some joint ventures with the main birdlife conservation (and touring) NGO in the country. There are plenty of unusual and endangered birds here (and primates and other mammals - although they are generally well away from humans and hard to spot).

So, Question is, if you were doing this kind of tour, particularly a good long haul flight away, would you be interested in hiring a lens from your travel company? There is obviously nothing to hire here - if the numbers we'd buy and hold stock for years (and have some nice toys in the office for the weekends!) I'm guessing that if you were interested in a long prime lens then the weight saving (and reduced risk of damage) would appeal. Or wouldn't you trust equipment out here? If you were interested, what would you be most interested in?!

Thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea, size and weight is always an issue when packing, let alone trusting anything to survive the luggage mishandlers loading/unloading.

Cheers for that. Not a ringing endorsement, but worth looking into the economics.
