reminds me of the time i went on the london eye a few years back with the wife and people were taking pictures of the houses of parliament with a flash, though glass at sunset.... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! :bang: hahaha!
 
Less wind resistance with it that way round!
(Of course, non of us do that from time to time.....do we?)

Same, I don't see what the problem is... it's always on reversed for protection, and bag space - only put it on the right way when I need it.
 
Hmm i see this loads aswell :) I always keep mine on when i'm out as i tend to leave the cap off.
 
Mines always on the 'proper' way around too. It gets in the way of the zoom ring when it's in the 'storage' position and I much prefer the look of it out as well :P
 
Regardless of the time, situation or subject, my hoods are on properly, with the exception being when I need to use my grads. For the sake of 2 seconds, I fail to see why people wouldn't use the hood all the time?

Ok, apart from when in the camera bag of course :)
 
I started not to use the hood when I got a 70-200 cos it's like wey hey look at my big un' ;)

not so bad with smaller lenses, have to say the Tokina 11-16 looks nice with it's hood on ;)
 
I would take mine off (and maybe it on like that just for somewhere to put it) if I was indoor taking shots with natural light as it can reduce light getting into the camera

:cuckoo: No, it can't. :)
It only blocks extraneous light coming from angles the lens can't see. If you are seeing a difference in meter reading between hood or no hood, then you should use the hood as the lights in the room may be causing small amounts of flare or fogging.
Indoors, I keep my hood on as it offers some protection against a dog's nose touching the front element.

Hey I am happy to be wrong, I just read that or saw it on a video were they recommended to remove it indoors :shrug:

I keep mine on all the time apart from indoors but I think I will look into it more
 
They should be used indoors too I would say especially if the lighting is strong stops light bouncing all over the place
