apart from the price,is there much differance?
one has a 58mm filter, the other a 62mm, does that matter??

I would go with the tamron, I have the sigma for Canon and the focusing is rubbish, very rarely gets a sharp picture. Not to sure if its the same with Sony.

Save £50 and go with the tamron

Not much between them....get the Tamron and spend the £50 you save on a day out with your camera!

Not much in it TBH.
They are both budget zoom lenses, which given the right conditions and setting would I imagine perform as well as each other.

That said, every Tamron lens I've ever owned has been spot on sharp.

I have the Tamron,

It is not a bad lens

I upgraded to a canon with IS (guess I should sell the Tamron)

I agree, go with the Tamron or a used Sigma APO if you can find one.
The non-APO Sigma is not worth 150.
