Lens making noise!?

Hi everyone

I've recently started to notice a noise when using my 100mm L macro.
When the IS is on I hear the noise and sometimes it's so much I feel like I'm in a construction site! It wasn't like this before as far as I remember. What should I do now? Has it developed a fault and needs to be sent for repair? I've only had it for 5 months.

I don't get any "construction site" noises, but I can hear the IS mechanism whirring for a few seconds. It's usually most noticeable indoors, the background noise outdoors usually masks the IS whirring.

I can confirm too, that my canon 100mm IS makes a small noise, but only notice it when indoors and all is quiet

Well I guess I have to try it again, but the first time I noticed it I was in the garden doing some macro shots and I was holding down the shutter and waiting for some action that I started hearing the noise.
