Hello.

I was at a wedding yesterday and the photographer was using an old nikon lens on his Nikon D700. I think he had a 50mm f1.8 lens which was origianlly for 35mm format, im guessing that nikon havent changed their lens mount.

My question is do any old lens mounts fit the Canon EF camera mount, such as the old Canon FD lens mounts??

Any advise welcome.

Thank you

Darren

Canon brought the EF mount in for autofocus film cameras so old Canon FD lensenot fit without an adaptor.
Luckily many lens mounts can be fitted to the Canon EF mount with adaptors I use some M42 screw lenses on my 400D

Thanks for the help. Where would i be able to buy adaptors and stuff like that from? Do you have a website you use?

Thanks

Darren.

Got mine off ebay the M42 ones are about a fiver but I think some can be up to £40 dependant on what lens mount combinations ou have,I always use UK suppliers and have been well pleased with the quality of the adapters

Old M42 lenses, ie old pentax screw fit etc.

You can get an adaptor to fit older canon FD lenses, but these are more expensive as they need a lens in them, its worth paying a little more with these to get better quality and of course any old lens will be manual focus only and work in just Av and manual modes.
