I've been out looking for a new coat today and on the way out of one shop I saw some pouches intended for holding climbing chalk like this one - http://www.amazon.co.uk/D-M-M-Trad-...sr_1_2?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1322348281&sr=1-2

It had a strap for clipping round your waste and thought it'd be perfect for holding a spare lens. In the end I didn't get one, but I'm thinking of going back. I was wondering if anyone else has already tried this out?
 
not putting a lens in my chalk bag, it's full of chalk! But yeah, I suppose it'd work for small lenses, although the belts are usually thin and the fitting kinda loose.

The chalk would soak up any moisture and keep fungus at bay though.

There lens cases / pouches etc generally have a sliplock feature on them which attaches to this...

I've not used one, but did see someone at Brands Hatch the other month wearing one and it looked quite usefull - he was able to carry 2 extra lenses about safely and securely, without them being in a bag / over shoulder etc, so didn't interfere with his shooting

On that note, Think Tank also do a modular component kit and whilst more expensive than the chalk bag, they come with a life time warranty and a build quality that trumps anything from lowepro, tamrac etc (I have the wired up belt pack and its incredibly well made). The extra £5-10 is definitely worth it!
