Hi, I'm new to this forum, and have a quick question for you! I bought a D90 a few months ago. I now want to start doing a bit of landscape photography and I wondered whice type of lens would be the most suitable for this. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks!

You could always looking into off brand UWA (Ultra Wide Angle) lenses, like the very common Sigma 10-20, which many people have and love

What have you got already and what's wrong with that? Upgrade if you really feel you need to go wider, longer or sharper but don't forget what you've already got. Like George I mostly shoot at 18-35mm. I do love my 10-20 for landscapes but if I'm only taking one lens with me it's always the 17-50.

Absolutely. The "kit" lenses supplied wth DSLRs are fine for landscapes, unless you want to go really wide.

I've been using a Nikon 18-70mm which is a really good lens for the money and I think (apart from a few occasions) wide enough for most landscape shots. With ultra wide angle I find that you end up with lots of little objects a long way away. Better to take 2 or 3 and stitch them together (imo). Although I am often proved wrong.

I have a Canon EF-S 10-22mm which is similar to the Sigma one mentioned above. I rapidly decided that I prefered the 22mm end. I dislike the perspective distortion in the pictures at the 10mm end. Given this, I wonder how many users of such lenses would be happy with the short end of a bog-standard 18-55mm kit lens, for landscapes.
