Lens question

Hello all.
Has anyone used a Sigma 8-16mm lens on a Canon 1D camera (1.3 crop?). I know it says they're for 1.6 crop but hey.

I tired a sigma 10-20 on my mates 5d2 and I'm guessing you will have the same results, just a black ring around the shot until you get to a certain focal length, at a guess maybe about 12mm, was 14mm on the 5d2

I had a 10-20 for my 1D3 but sold it a bought a 17-40L. Now I need something really wide.

Don't know if the 8-16 Sigma will foul on the mirror mechanism or vignette on the 1D but I know the shortest focal length zoom that will cover a full frame camera is the 12-24 Sigma. It has a couple of foibles and isn't as sharp/contrasty/good colour rendition as the 17-40L. It does go a LOT wider though - you just need to understand how to use it to get the best out of it....
