Lens recomendation for Canon 50d for landscapes

As the title suggests I am looking for an additional lens to compliment my kit lens and 70-300mm lens for landscape photography. I am also needing to consider filters to go with it. I currently have the cokin p-series system. It would be great if I could use the same filters if that is at all possible.

I look forward to your responses as my mind is a bit fuddled with looking at reviews etc.

Thanks in advance

Andy

Sigma 10-20 is a good wide lens at a pretty good price. Don't know the Colin filter setup but would be surprised if you couldn't get 77mm filter holder for them.

Another alternative is the Tamron 10 - 24mm, which is a lens i have used. It comes up around the same price as the f4 - 5.6 sigma, although i dont think it is regarded quite as highly by many, though personally i have had no problems with this lens myself. Another alternative is the highly rated Tokina 11 - 16mm but this is somewhat more expensive.

When thinking about lenses for landscape many seem to automatically assume wide angle. If wide angle is whet you're looking for primes wider than 20mm may be few and expensive and possibly manual focus. If a zoom is what you want there are several in the 10-20mm type range but it'll possibly be worth checking if your Cokin P system will vignette, even with the WA set up.

I have Cokin P and used to have a 20D and a 10-22mm but sadly I can't remember if it vignetted and if so at what point. Maybe someone else with a similar setup can say?
