Just grabbed a mint GM1 from MPB so I'm after a lens. Budget up to £250.

Simply for travel/day-to-day use and thinking of maybe the 20mm f1.7 ? Good choice ?

I know nothing about these lenses so after a bit of input from owners/users on possible alternatives.

Cheers.

I might go for the 14mm f2.5. Reviews seems decent.

Anyone recommend this particular lens over the 20mm f1.7 ?

I keep the 14mm f2.5 on my GM1 as it's such a perfect match size-wise. As long as you like the 28mm equivalent field-of-view then it's the ideal lens for it in my opinion.

I have the 14mm, 20mm and 12-32mm lenses. The least used lens is the 14mm, whilst it is very small, I don't think it offers very good value new or produces images that might earn its keep. The 12-32mm is a really nice lens, not much slower and not much bigger than the 14mm and produces really sharp images, its the best kit lens I own by some margin. I also have the 14-42mm Olympus Mk 2 and Panasonic 14-42 HD Mk 2, of which the Olympus is the weakest performer. However note that the 12-32mm will not manually focus on most M43 bodies but will on the GM series, should you ever change to something else. The 20mm is also very good indeed for slow moving or static subjects.

I had the 12-32 zoom, which produced some good results. As identified, the 20mm f1.7 is generally a good lens.

Thanks chaps.

I've decided I only really want the one lens initially so think I'll plump for the 12-32 for now as it'll be the most versatile for holidays. Just need to find one at a reasonable price :D
