Lens roadmap

Hi!

I have a 550d and the kit 18-55 & 55-250, and I've caught the lens bug and am looking to upgrade my lens bag. But I'm the type who loves to plan everything, so I'm putting together my lens upgrade roadmap of sorts. I would love some feedback and some help!

So far I'm thinking:
Canon 10-22mm
Canon 17-55mm
Canon 100-400mm

I'm very new to photography and I'm trying a bit of everything at the moment, but what I love the most is taking shots of wildlife, landscapes and the night sky.

55mm - 100mm is a big gap, so maybe I could keep my 55-250mm to fill the gap, or get a 70-200mm, or an 85mm?

I also really want to give macro a try sometime down the line, so I will probably look at getting a 100mm macro as well. Like my brother told me, photography is a money black hole! Haha!

Just forget about the lens roadmap and concentrate on taking photos.
As a beginner it's very easy to get caught up in the lust of shiny new lenses, but you're not going to know which ones are best for you until you've got to grips with your camera and your photography.
Just get out there and enjoy what you have, they're perfectly capable of taking good photos.

I think your plan is a good one if its long term, as above get out and enjoy what you have and get used to the camera and you might change your 'roadmap' as you find you prefer certain types of photography.

The map you have laid out is pretty decent although you could also make substitutions to allow for budget constraints etc

Sigma UWA lenses are also very good

Tamron 17-50 Non-VC is very close to the 17-55, it just lacks IS and itsn't quite as sharp in the corners, it is however actually sharper in the centre!

Sigma 150-500 IMHO is better value for money than the 100-400 and you can get this brand new on a grey import cheaper than the 100-400 second hand!

Thanks for the advice! Yeah maybe it's better if I work on my photography more first, and figure out what I need.

When I borrowed my brother's 16-35 II, the image quality was crazy! It got me lusting over lenses.

I'll check out the Sigma and Tamrons.
