Lens/sensor cleaning.

When I look to take a photo I can see a couple of tiny marks on the lens.

When changing the lens I can see the same marks.

Am I correct in saying this would be the sensor marked?

When I look at the pics on the computor and print them out nothing can be seen.

Should I leave alone?

OR

Have the sensor cleaned?

If the latter where should I take it and how much would I be looking at?

can you explain this bit please ,,,,when changing the lens etc
it might be dust on the focusing screen , nothing to do with the lens or sensor
 
Do you mean the bit I look into?

On the back of the camera?
 
Maybe spots of dust on the mirror?
are you saying when you look through the view finder you see marks on the scene your looking at?
and even when you change lens you see the same marks in the same place?
 
Where is the mirror?

Can I clean OR should I leave alone?


Bit nervous about cleaning things I dont know about.
 
the best way to see if its dust on the focussing screen it to try another lens ( if you have one )and if the same marks are still there and in the same place its the screen ( not the screen at the back that you look into )if thats the case , and you can live with seeing the marks everytime you look through the viewfinder , id leave it alone .you cant see dust on the sensor when you look through the view finder
 
Yes the marks are exactly the same on 3 different lens.

Is dust obvious?


As I said before the pics come out fine.

If i post a link on this thread of a pic would you have a peek and tell me if you see a prob.?
 
could be dust on the mirror or focus screen ,, if its on the mirror id leave it alone ,, the mirror is very fragile ( the coating )focus screen can be cleaned , but dust on either wont affect picture quality
 
Yea I would ignor it if its not affecting your images. Sometimes a good hard puff with a rocket blower will shift it, but could end up pushing whatever is making the mark further in.

If you can live with it leave it, if not...take it to someone who knows what and how to clean

pic looks ok to me ,,,nice one ,,,,

if you are worried about dust on the sensor,,take the camera out on a nice day ,focus on something in the distance ,then turn off the autofocus , then put it on aperture priority at f 22 then take a picture of a nice blue cloudless sky ,,,well it is summer afterall,,,then look at it on the computer screen that'ill show up the bunnies :D
 
OK........whewn we get a nice day again I will do that.....lol......................nice day I think we may of had are summer......hope not though.

with my nikon i dont get dust on the sensor as i change it for every picture i take ,,,,its a new thing called film :lol:
 
Film my grandad talks about that............lol

I do have a film camera a minolta it is in a bag somewhere and never sees the light of day....ha ha.........cause im poor and take duff photos.....lol
 
seriously though , if you can live with it, leave it alone ,,,

My husband keeps saying ''you cant see anything on the prints so leave it be''

now I can tell him he was right.....he will like that.....
 
no, tell him you you had to take it to bits , clean it then put it back together ,,,and he was wrong . ( us husbands are wrong most of the time anyway ) or is that just me hmmmm
 
i had problems with dust marks showing on the pics,used mirror lock and blasted the mirror with a rocket blower,i could see the dust on the mirror,all cleared then pics nice and clear,then a month or so later i could see 2 dust marks in the viewfinder but not showing on pics,i removed the lens and gave a good blast on the outside of the viewfinder and inside as close as i dare to the area around the viewfinder,this cleared the dust marks in the viewfinder,worth a go on yours but dont touch anything inside !

I am tooooooooooooooo scared.

I have decided to leave alone.

BUT on the disscussion of my husband being right or wrong, I have a plan.

I will tell him the lens is knackered and I will have to buy another one.

I will then get the 85mm 1.4 and he will never know that I never had it in the first place cause he dont know what I've got...........this could be a winner.:woot:
