Lens service?

I have been given a Canon 80-200 f2.8L :-) (magic drainpipe)
The lens is 23 years old and seems to be working well, The zoom ring rubber grip is a bit loose and warped and probably should be replaced. I emailed Fixation about getting a service and possible replacement of the rubber grip however they wont service it as its no longer supported by Canon, I haven't tried anywhere else yet and assume other canon servicing centres will say the same.
Does anyone know anywhere that will service it?

You can get a list of the Canon authorised service centres here but I think you'll struggle to find anyone to take this on. If they open up the lens and discover a part that needs replacing, they almost certainly won't have the part. That will definitely limit what they can do.

If they have a rubber grip in stock which fits the lens then they may exchange it for you. But the lens is so old, they almost certainly wont have any unless it uses the same size grip as a current lens.

Had an email back from Lehmann and they wont touch it either :-(
I have found a gut that will attempt it at http://www.camerarepairworkshop.co.uk they are approved Fuji repairers so they should know what they are doing!
I will work my way down the list of canon officials first though.
Cheers guys
