Lens testing ?

Hi All :D

In the ( OLD ) days , if I purchased a second user lens I would test it by fixing it to a body , open the back of the camera ( no film in it ) set a slow shutter speed and then go through all the apertures on the lens , firing the shutter at each setting , I could see the blades closing and opening making sure all moved and all closed and opened correctly

How can you do this test on a Digital body ???????? to make sure everything is working correctly ??????

Set camera to Av mode. Set aperture to minimum. Take shot. Review for correct exposure on LCD. Set aperture to maximum. Take shot. Review for correct exposure on LCD. Job done. Something we do dozens of times a day!

OK thanks , I have a 5D2 , if a lens is faulty ( aperture not closing down on one blade ) what would I see on the screen ?
 
If you want to see the actual blades opening and closing, try pointing the viewfinder towards a light source, look through the lens, hold down the DoF preview and roll the aperture dial back and forth.
