right, i have a fuji finepix s8000fd. And I noticed yesterday, that onthe end of the lens, on the inside rim, there is a thread. Any idea if this is intentional, It doesnt appear to be a part of the zoom function, just wondered if there are any accessories/filters ect that fit???
 
The screw thread is normally for screw in filters, some manufacturers also produce adaptors for things such as macro etc.

You would need to know the size of the screw thread.
 
possibly just filters then, are there any markings to say the size?
 
Not sure if this is what your onnabout or not, I used to have a 5500 as a walkabout camera at work it had a thread where you could put a form of tube with a filter on the end the zooming function would then be protected by this, so 1 filter 1 tube would protect your lens and zoom function(y)

However before we had this we used a filter 52mm I think from recall:thinking:
