Long shot - is there such a thing as an Arca lens plate with built in strap lugs? Could really use one for carting my 70-210 about as the lens is about 3x the weight of the body!
 
I dont think so but you should be able to buy or modify a base plate screw to take a strap, then just switch it with the regular screw in the arca plate
 
think I've seen a 2x length plate , you could get that drilled

you can get belt pouches too, your lens maybe too big tho :-(

Think that might end up being the solution. I don't want to have to remove the strap to sit on the tripod and I don't want to be wasting time attaching straps to bolts to walk off without the tripod, and I don't want the weight on the lens mount.

I spy a marketing opportunity! :D
