Lens upgrade

Hi all,
l have been planning to buy few good lens to improve my photography. But as you know its always hard to choose the best lens. (trying to figure it out from last two months).
Today after spent all evening clicking and disappointed with the sharpness of my sigma lens I am definately going to upgrade my kit now.
This is the list of lenses I am planning to buy- (£2500 my budget)

Canon 17-40 L
Canon 70-200 F4 IS (still struggling with f2.8 and f4:bonk
Canon 100-400 L

Is this a good choice of lenses.

I have canon 7d and hope this kit will improve my performance.
Regarding my photography I do street portraits, landscape and now like to go for wildlife.

Sounds good, I'd probably get a 17-55 2.8 IS though maybe instead of the 17-40, that is more a wide lens for a FF camera IMO.

Looks like a simular choice to what im looking to purchase (when i get the cash ). And seems to look like a good choice in lenses.

You need to keep in mind that the Canon 17-40 L on a crop sensor isn't going to be much more wider then your 18-250 sigma, that's probably the only downside to this lens. On the upside, i've heard nothing but positive reviews from the lens, and it will be a lovely standard zoom(one of the reasons its on my list).

Again, nothing but good story's about the 70-200 f4 Is. Happend to have used one of these a while back and im dying to get one. I personally don't bother with Image stabilisation, I do find it useful when in low light, but i generally have my camera on a tripod in those situations, Or my 50 1.8. If you can afford the f2.8 version, i don't see why you shouldn't get it. Downside is it's heavy.

The Canon 100-400 L, Its a good lens, tested one in Jessops a while back. I liked the length on it, made me want to run off with it. The thing I don't like about it,is the fact it's a push-pull to zoom. I've seen some folk refer to it as a vacum cleaner due to the fact it can suck in dust. If it's true or not i'm not sure. But optically, I have seen some really sharp images come from it. But if its for wildlife etc. I'd prefer a Prime Telephoto Lens and a converter. But saying that, anything you buy will give you more reach, the fact you have a cropped sensor(1.6 in the 7D i think) means that if your lens is set to 100mm your shooting closer to 160mm on camera.

I see quite a bit of overlap between the 70-200 and the 10-400. What about a 17-55 2.8 IS, 70-200 2.8 IS ii and a 2x extender? This would take you to 400, and you'd have what is probably the best lens aver made in the 70-200 f2.8 (for Canon, everybody knows that the Nikon version is better ;-)) )

According to Digital Rev, this would come to £2800, but you could reduce that by going for the fist incarnation of the 70-200.
