Hi all, a friend of mine has pointed me in the direction of someone who is selling their nikon gear, and i have been offered a nikon 18-55mm AF-S f3.5-5.6 G VR lens for £70, he says its in mint condition and boxed both caps, just to ask what you guys think?, bearing in mind i'm new to this and have just got my dslr (nikon D200). is it worth it?. Thanks

I used the same lens on the same camera as my 2nd body for ages. The 18-55 kit lens is a surprisingly good lens! £70 is a fair price too.

Sounds like a reasonable deal. If that falls through look at a s/h 18-70 AF-S - it is a cracking lens and can be had for about £110 ish.

I have both the 18-55 and the 18-70 and they are both very good. The 18-55 is as said surprisingly good. I got mine with the D5000 and the kit was just £40 more with the lens rather than body only. I got my 18-70 for £84 from the bay of evil and it is a sharper lens but mine has no VR (Vibration reduction) but will be perfik on mono/tripod.
