Has anyone had any experience of using one of these attached to a lens. If so what length lenses and would you recommend it.

Thanks in advance

Main lens focal length divided by eyepiece focal length... this gives you magnification.

I can only imagine longer lenses will be the most useful as a telescope, but shorter ones my give a wider field of view. I'd say from 200 to 600mm would be the range these are designed to work in, but a very short eyepiece focal length on a shorter lens can give the same magnification as a longer eyepiece on a longer lens. The difference will be field of view in the eyepiece and brightness.. and the amount of detail resolved.

The larger the light gathering objective (in this case the outermost lens) the more detail you will resolve with higher magnifications.

Have a read of this Gary. Esp. the caveat.
I had use of one of those devices and tried it on a 300mm lens. Optical quality was fine, but the bayonet coupling was so tight that I feared that damage could be done due to undue strain.

Never again tried to put it on a lens.
