It is a word, made up of regular characters from our Roman alphabet and, as such, cannot be 'irritating' unless you particularly want to be irritated by it.

I think there are far greater thing to be irritated about in this world than the name of a quite imaginative niche product from the imaging industry. But then I have a grip on reality.

Well that's where you are completely wrong. It can be irritating and that's why myself and others have said so. Just because you don't find if irritating doesn't mean it isn't irritating. Clearly it is otherwise I wouldn't be irritated by it.

What's stranger is that you seem to be irritated by the fact I find if irritating. Very strange

Do you want:

a) a custom user title thingy

b) a, to you, irritatingly-named lens, free from the manufacturer, after they find this thread, or

c) neither of the above?

I didn't understand a. As for b I'd only sell it so probably not.

I suppose they thought of "little lens not quite a full sized one baby" and dismissed that :D

Maybe we should help them out with a new name for their product

Damn it I hate it when I find a whole new page that I missed reading before I reply :bonk:

the thing is though a product name doesn't have to describe what it is to be a good product lets take some of the most famous product names there are:

Apple
Microsoft
Dell
Canon

Do any of these actually describe the product they make?

A product name doesn't have to define what it is, it just has to not be irritating. It's like that cleaning product Cillet Bang. That has to be one of the most irritating names ever and as a result I have and never will buy it. Bang and the dirt is gone! That's excruciatingly annoying

It's not Cillit Bang that's annoying Joe, it's that idiot who advertises the damn stuff with his overly loud 120db voice... I always wondered whether the bloody stuff would work on him! ;)

"Bang and the idiot's gone" :D

Apple is a name that Jobs and Wozniac came up with when starting the company. I believe there was some wrangling with the Beatles estate over the name as it was (is) also the name of their record label. Microsoft is a compound of microcomputer and software. Dell is the founders name and Canon is an Anglicised version of Kwanon - the name Yoshida gave to his first 35mm prototype.

yes exactly, so just like I said then.

he's very annoying too!! but the name is annoying as well.

No. Quite similar to 75% of your suggestions.

You gave us four names - one of which is not only a massive global corporation but one which is named after a derivative of it's function. :cuckoo:

maybe you need to see a doctor? This sounds like quite a rare condition?
Synesthesia is not so rare. Apparently as many as 1 in 25,000 are considered to be affected in one way or another.

So out of 4 names I gave you, only 1 of them had anything to do with the product. and yet you still don't get my point, ok here's some more just for you:

Hoover
Durex
Olympus
Samsung

I really could go on.

Do you get my point yet? A good product name doesn't have to describe what the product is or are you disputing this?

I can't believe I've actually just read 3 pages of this crap...I've rated this thread a zero.

I can't believe you read three pages, thought it was crap and then took the time to comment! :bonk:

Olympus
Samsung
It says here that Durex was chosen to represent DUrability, Reliability & EXcellence
I really could go on.
We've noticed.

I could not care less. I was simply pointing out that you had chosen the name of a company that was related to what the product is - and you've only gone and done it again! :cuckoo:

So you are saying that someone who has never heard of or knows that durex is a condom hears the name and their thought process goes:

Durex
hmm, durable, reliability and excellence
I'm sure that must be referring to condoms

what a joke! :clap::clap::clap:

what you mean is you are being to stubborn to agree that I'm right and that a good product name doesn't have to describe the product

Seems to me like some people are getting a little irate here about some silly things, my irritation of a product name seems to make people irritated, very strange behaviour.

I think this thread has reached the end of it's laugh i'll alert the mods to close it

Will add one last thought...
The very fact that people find some brand names/Adverts etc annoying usually helps the product..
Cilit bang wa spointed out as being insanely annoying, and also to me,that dang Go Compare series of ads drives me NUTS... But-You never forget them :)

This thread has to be the biggest waste of 5 minutes ever! I find that quite annoying! ironic huh?
