Lenses "stiff" to attach to the body

Yes
I've noticed that my Nikon lenses are stiff / tight when I attach them to the body, ie there is quite a lot of resistance ( hope that this makes sense ) whereas my Tamron and Sigma are easy to attach.

I'm scared of forcing the lenses so is there anything that can be done to ease this a little ? Its the same on both bodies

Isn't a tight fit a good thing?

Unless of course there's something wrong... are screws on mount all tightened?

I wouldn't lubricate anything, but rather frop by a dealer with the gear and ask his opinion.

Which Nikon lenses to which Nikon body?
If it's all relatively new stuff it shouldn't matter, but some of the old film lenses will/should not go onto some of the DSLR's.

Jan, yes tight is good of course but these are stiff.

Lenses are 35mm f1.8 and 70-300 AF-S VR on d3100 and d7000 bodies. It's exactly the same on both bodies so maybe that's just how they should be and the non Nikon lenses are less stiff by design

My two Nikkors are difinitely "tighter" than my Sigma 150mm... but they still feels rather smooth.

Have you checked the mounts for marks, scratches, dirt etc.?
And again: all screws are tightened? The above Sigma had two loose screws, that scraped against the mount...

For peace of mind, I would pay a visit to a photo dealer and have him feel them.

Agree 100% on visiting a dealer for help. Too tight and thay may get tighter on a warm day (n)

Those lenses shouldn't be an issue... I'd look closely at the mounts for signs of scarring... As long as all mounts look ok I wouldn't worry about it. Pay attention to the locking pin on the camera body... I've seen them bend slightly to where they don't retract quite all the way (it made lens removal difficult).
