Hi All

Very new to photography and looking for advice on lenses. Have 450d with is lens ans also came with the 75 to 300 lens. Interests at moment are vast and include wildlife, landscape people and would like to take some motor spport. My question is which lens would i nedd for the motor sport side and for the close up flowers and wildlife stuff

Your current kit will cover everything you have mentioned to a limited extent. Once you know what the limitations are then you can be more specific in your needs. eg faster focussing, wider aperture, higher fps on the camera etc. But be aware that if you want to specialise it can get very expensive very quickly.

Assuming that you bought a camera / lens kit. They will get you started, not the best lenses available, but if you take images in the right conditions with the correct camera settings then you'll get some good results.

The DSLR is an interchangeable lens system, so unlike a P&S, there isn't one lens that does everything. 1 for motorsport / wildlife, 1 for landscapes and 1 for close up photography which as mentioned can start to mount of the cost.

Best advice is use your current setup, read up about your equipment and how to use your camera settings, minimum focal length, f number, aperture, shutter sppeds etc and use you equipment, then you'll understand what you can and can't do.

A motorsports lens could cost anywhere between £600-£7000 just to give you an idea.
