lenses

Got a 50 1.8 for my d90 a few months ago. It is the standard lens that stays on the camera now. The others I'm sure are great-heard many good things though not used myself. Would highly recommend the 50 1.8 as a gateway into the others, can't be beat for the price, and if you decide you don't like it you can sell it easily on ebay or that for almost the same as you bought it

In terms of value for money you could but the 50mm 1.8 and 35mm 1.4 for the same price as the 50mm 1.4 af-s. You won't be disappointed with the two cheaper lenses.

I only upgraded my 50mm 1.8 to the 1.4 to use it with my nikon d5000. The 50mm 1.8 was a mainstay for portraits on my d90
 
35 1.8 is bloody lovely. I even run it on a FX camera; tiny bit of vignetting but for £160, it's bloody amazing. One of the sharpest Nikon lenses I've seen in a while.

Could you point me in the direction of these cheap 35mm f/1.4 lenses....:naughty:

Ditto that. I have the 35 1.8 on the camera now and borrowed the 50/1.8 when I had my D40. Both are super sharp and great in low light. For the price you'll pay on both, just get both of them and be done with it. The 50 1.4 is nothing to sneeze at, but I'd rather have an extra lens than an extra third stop of light and couple ounces.

I have a similar thread but asking about prime v telephoto - not sure which way to go now I have my D90 and 18-105 kit lens.
From the posts in your thread, I think I'd go 50mm f1.8 if my thread suggests more use with a prime.

I'd be happy to know how much you've found it for!
 
I had the 50mm af-d 1.8 but didnt use it as i thought it was a bit of a long prime for what I wanted on the D90.
I will have the 35mm af-s 1.8 later when i go and collect it after work.
