Can't see why you can't...........other sponsors/traders/advertisers on here give a TP discount
OK, let me clarify a bit. One thing that's very important to me is that I want my business to be straightforward, honest, and transparent. I put in a lot of work behind the scenes to try to make it like that. For example we add no mark-up on delivery services, so we honestly don't care whether you use our couriers or make your own arrangements. Similarly the hire prices are all equalised as much as possible to ensure that we make the same profit margin on every hire, so we have absolutely no incentive to recommend one item of equipment over another: the only thing that matters is what's best for the customer. You get the idea I'm sure.
Well, related to that is the idea that discounts are for special purposes, rather than for all and sundry. We all know that nobody in their right mind pays the full price for a DFS sofa or a Magnet kitchen, because there's always some sort of sale on. I don't want LensesForHire to be like that. I could easily offer discounts to first time customers (as I'm frequently asked to), and I could easily offer discounts to repeat customers (as I'm frequently asked to), and I could just put up my prices to compensate for the fact that 100% of my customers would be getting a discount. But that feels wrong.
So ... genuine discounts for selected customers who genuinely deserve one. I'm happy with the notion that actively engaged, contributing members of the TP community deserve discounts, because TP is a great resource and those who put into it deserve something out. BUT - I don't want a generic discount code that will get traded around on the internet (we all know there are website for this). And I don't want people thinking they can just sign up to TP to get a discount - it has to be earned. And I don't want it to be an administrative burden.
Practical suggestions on a postcard please. Or right here if you prefer. (Actually that would be better.)
