Hi all, I’m hoping you can help, I’m considering a trip out to Lerwick from Aberdeen over the next couple of months purely for photography with an overnight stay within Lerwick, unfortunately I’ll be limited to public transport or walking once there.
Could anyone suggest places to photograph or maybe offer there experiences please?
Many thanks

Bain's Beach and The Lodberrie are nice and in Central Lerwick. Also some of the streets near there have some nice architecture plus there are some interesting looking shops

Best thing would be to try and go on a boat tour from Lerwick harbour

Many thanks for the info, I’ll look into those locations and go from there. Excellent idea with the boat tour too.

You might find some of the most popular spots are busy, due to the popularity of the Shetland TV drama. Dependent on when you go, they might even be filming.

Let me know your dates and I might be able to give you a run around outwith toon for some cliff scenery, wildlife, Shetland "Jimmy Perez" TV murder locations etc, maybe some wildlifery
Thank you ever so much for the kind offer, I’ll bear that in mind once I’ve made a final decision on dates.

Take a walk around to Tescos and there is a resident population of seals in the bay by the carpark (the food at Fjara on the same road is really good). Then try and book a trip with ‘seabirds and Seals ‘ boat tours they have the most comfortable boat to take you out and around Noss which is an island a short distance from Lerwick, great for breeding Gannets etc. Seals and Dolphins. Note the trips get booked up and are weather dependent.
If you want to get out and see Otters then your best bet is to book a guide, Shetland Nature are the best, Brydon Thomason on Unst, James Roberson on Yell and John Moncreiff ( Crieffy) on mainland, all have very intimate knowledge of Otters and the other wildlife of Shetland and are fantastic guides.
How do you plan to travel about ?

Many thanks for the detailed info, I’m thinking primarily the buses and exploring the local coastland around Lerwick on foot.
