Lets hope Barbault was right

I was going to ask the fairies at the bottom of the garden what they thought about this but they've all gone to a party in the land of Oz....

Stop the bus I want to get off, Andrew triumphantly declares that science is finished and there will never be any new discoveries proved.

No other opinions are available.

Just on predictions and conspiracies... Some people are convinced that something significant is going to happen sometime soon, 2027, 2030 something or other depending on who you want to listen to. I'm being vague as most of this just passes me by but for people who want to worry about things there's always some calendar ending soon or some alignment or something.

If it happens there'll be nothing we can do about it except have a decent camera and a fast lens handy but will we have time to develop the raws and show the shots to anyone?

Its not a worry, it is potentially a good thing.

Would be brilliant to get a photo of the alignment, never before photographed last time was 500 year ago

Other opinions are always available but...

...when it comes to observational science, only a very limited subset ever survive the test of ridicule!

Strange comment on a photography forum.

Vision is the ability to see that which others cannot see.

The whole artistic craft of photography is built on that premise.

Well with the current conflicts going on around world , I wouldn’t put money on any one of them not boiling over very shortly , , who’s going to guess ,Israel, Iran ,Russia , Ukraine ,china , Taiwan , u.s.a . Without adding all the terror groups worldwide and then there’s u.f.o’s + aliens to take into account
But my monies on Godzilla being a true story

I have tried to get a ten quid double on Trump and Putin both dying this weekend.

I know, very sad,

At one time the whole of humanity except for one man thought the Earth was flat.

I'm not too worried about Godzilla but maybe we should all be a bit anxious about The Great Green Arkelseizure and the coming of The Great White Hankerchief. If aliens are out there I think we're probably pretty safe as they've probably known about us for ages and could have taken whatever they wanted at any time. The fact that we're still here and whatever they may have taken hasn't been missed maybe means we are ok. Maybe. Or as ok as we can be under the circumstances, things being as they are.

Together? In what circumstances though? Overly vigorous intimate romantic contact maybe? Now there's a vision hard to shift  :$ but would make a memorable shot. I'd go hyperfocal, no focus, no messing, just frame, take a quick shot and go.

Independent sudden death syndrome, Lyndsey Graham style :)

Fairies at the bottom of the garden may not be such a fancy as some people imagine, Assuming that we take the individuals account as something that they actually saw, what is the mechanism and pathway in the brain that facilitates that type of vision ?

Maybe they are homunculi?

Could well be, there has been a fair bit of research (ongoing) into DMT (dimethyltryptamine).

Its a short duration hallucinogenic and you would have to take whatever an individual says with a pinch of salt, but the fact that literally thousands and thousands of different people each see the same thing over and over again, a doorway and windows into another dimension populated by "little people trying to communicate" raises some interesting questions.

Do they really or are they just part of that well known phenomenon "mass hysteria"...

That's just one of the many interesting questions raised, but a cursory examination of of the circumstances occurring during mass hysteria events will soon indicate that is not what is at play here. A disparate group of people of many different races, across many of the worlds dispersed continents between people who have rarely if ever connected to each other over a time frame of several years.

Saying that, I have no doubt that many will "jump on the bandwaggon" hoping to see the little green men.

Peer pressure is real,

You didn't need to write the first sentence. The rest is fine. I had to laugh..in a nice way..how you've used the word 'imagine'. ...'as some people imagine'..in this context. I'd have said 'believe'. Also, rather than 'some people ' I'd have thought it more likely it's the 'majority'.

I use that scenario myself when questioning the need of so many to believe that gods exist. I say.."why can't people look at a beautiful garden and admire it without believing there are fairies at the bottom of it ?" I was on the foc'sle of cruise ship in Alaska with my camera photographing the majestic snow-capped mountain range when a middle-aged American lady came and stood next to me and said.."Isn't it wonderful what God has created" It was a statement rather a question hence no.. ? I told her that the mountain range was actually caused by the subduction of the Pacific Plate underneath the North American Plate and subsequent volcanic action. She gave me a disapproving look, said nothing, turned round and walked off.

Re your question. I know nothing about the physiology of the brain but I'd have thought that the reaction of the brain depends on the stimulation. I mean,if drugs are the cause of hallucination then they will affect a particular part of the brain that causes that hallucination. Fever may affect a different part of the brain with the same result or the same area with the same result. Sleep deprivation can do all sorts of nasty things which is why it's used as torture and why it contravenes several human rights laws . One common cause is dementia. I assume that it has a different effect on a different part of the brain. Just had a thought. Does each scenario create a chemical ? I don't know. I think you'd need to have a doctorate to explain it all. What we can be sure of,though, is that there are no fairies ,goblins or gremlins. Actually, I'm not so sure about gremlins because they seem to be the source of a lot of electrical and mechanical faults . Oh..no little green or any other coloured men..and not to appear sexist..women....from 'space' either. All food for thought,I suppose.

Does each scenario create a chemical ?

I would have thought that each stimuli creates a hormonal response.

The vast majority of people assume that hormones are done and dusted at the end of puberty.

At our current level of perceived scientific reality and understanding. But, and its a big but, the quantum theories and computing are about to change the whole scientific communities understanding of physics and "reality". I read an interesting paper the other day that is trying to prove that some stages of sleep provide access to other realities via the pathway of dreams.

There is some interesting research going on, or rather, there is lots of research going on that I find interesting and thought provoking.

If there are really fairies at the bottom of our garden, it's no wonder the (real) aliens fly (usually) straight past us.

If you don't have a garden, where do your fairies go?

I wish they would get their act together and do something, next doors ivy needs trimming for a start.

I don't know. I don't have enough knowledge to respond. It's not a subject I've studied. I don't mean academically but 'out of interest'

My bold. What kind of 'other realities ' do they have in mind ?
