canon have now offered me a replacement 1dx to replace the replacement 1dx thats more useless than my 1dx :)

lol, Glad they sorted you out Tony. I'm holding on to mine for a few weeks as Ive got a really busy period coming up. I picked up a 7D at the weekend to cover for the 1DX going in but I have decided to delay sending them in. I may just send them one at a time to ensure I have a fully functional body. Did you note the serial number of the first replacement they sent you?

Only got the email offer this morning... have replied telling them my requiremnts this week.. and that I was hoping mine would be back for Thursday (got a couple of school plays to do indoors poor light no flash) and need 2 bodies tuesday night for footy..

Am awaiting there reply... this one is usable until it stops focusing .. then starts again.. just did it saturday right as i went to focus on a boundry catch :(


Am awaiting there response.. perhaps there checking the status of mine.. or even rushing it along .. which would make more sense..


does that replacement serial number mean anyhting to anyone?

shutter, motor and seal replaced, cleaned, calibrated and all functiones checked

labour
lots of cleaning and calibration comment and replaced faulty external parts ??

spare parts
shutter ass'y
lever ass'y
sh charge sheet
light shield



reads like shutter replaced but not..

That should fix it :thumbs: Sounds like a lot of new parts rather than repairs. I think what usually happens is service centres replace components and then return the old bits to Japan for possible refurb, or just so the factory can see for themselves exactly what went wrong.

Shutter count would be interesting, but isn't that more of an 'actuations' count? Might not be conclusive. Out of interest, I'd give Canon a call, but I'm just quizzical like that :)
 
Sorry did meant to say.. first thing I did when i opened package was look at sheet.. secoind thing was to check shutter count.. as Hoppy says..its actuations so may not change.. still at 210k :(

Just done a school play this aft.. not having had time to check things like calibration on mine i left it at home.. got another play this evening.. cant even take both as only one battery


so whats ASS'Y ? Gonna be summat obvious but ?
