Hi,
can anyone recommend a good light tent? I collect medals (amongst other things), and I'm looking for something to use to help me get some clear close up shots of the detail using either a flash or standard lights.
The picture of the Maplin light cube is incorrect for use as it is. The cube should be rotated forward through 90 degrees so that the grey cloth becomes the base and the backdrop. You should have the white reflection/diffusion panels on the sides and the top.
I did have the Maplin unit, bought for a tenner, but I think it was stitched together incorrectly so I ended up returning it and buying an 80cm popup light cube, with four coloured backdrops, from eBay for £15 delivered. No problems so far with that one. This looks like the same thing, although from a different seller....
Thanks from me for the links as well - I did make myself a DIY lightbox which actually worked pretty well. My problem is that our house is tiny and I need a bigger version - anything that folds down is a big plus
Out of interest - anyone got any recommendations on a good size? I'm thinking 40 or 50cm and I would be using it mostly for flowers. Not sure how big I should go...
At the bottom of this thread there is a picture of my 100-400 lens to give a better idea of scale with the 80cm tent. When folded the cube/tent fits into a circular pouch about 14" across and 1" thick, or something near those dimensions anyway. I'd certainly prefer a tent/cube to be a little to large rather than a little too small.
Thanks for that - I think I'm now going with the 80cm cube. As you say - better to be too big than small and if it folds down it doesn't really matter storage wise
