Light tents?

I am looking to purchase a light tent from ebay, are they any good?

Which size is best?

Most come with 4 different colour cloth backgrounds, I am right in thinking you need to use a sheet of perpex on top of the cloth to give it that shiny non cloth look?

What kind of lighting is best to use?
