Light trails

I read a thin in DSLR user a few month back about the ideal aperture being f11 for tail lights, and f16 for headlights, not sure how true that is though.

That's in pitch black conditions, using ISO100. When doing a shot that has both in it, like your shot they suggest going for f16.

They are some great shots.

I really want to learn how to take light trail photographs :(

Then go out to a local main road/bypass at night, settings on manual, small aperture and a large shutter speed and just experiment. :)

That's what i've been doing so far :)

Excellent shots, you should be really happy.

Try ISO 100 or 200 (whatever is the lowest base ISO on your camera), aperture of f/16 with an exposure of around 15 seconds. :)

Thanks for all your comments and advice - can't wait for my next time to go & play!
I shall post some more images soon!!!!

thanks
