does anyone know if there is a cheap light triigger for nikon for lightening photos

Generally it's quite dark or dull for storms so just use a small aperture and low ISO to force a longer shutter - then cable release shoot locked on continuos and you'll catch the flash in one of the frames

Set exposure so that it's approximately correct for say 5 seconds shutter speed. Continuous shooting mode, then just press the button and wait. You won't miss much that way. Also a good technique for fireworks.

daft question but wont this rack the shutter count up on the camera by a good amount
