Lightening the hair in ps

I used CS4 extended. Can anyone tell me how to put highlights in hair please.

Use the peroxide brush.





Ok maybe not!

There are loads of ways: Dodge tool, a selective curves adjustment, a layer with a blending mode of overlay, screen etc. then fine tuned with a layer mask.
