as im now going to be using the studio at our local club on my own im looking into lightmeter's now im not sure on the diffrent type's i belive there is 2 type's ambient and flash

what sort of price's would i expect to pay which one would you have and why ?

I've got a Sekonic 308s, it's the budget end of the market but okay for casual usage....does both flash and ambient.

This link gives some idea of how it looks and operates....expect to pay just over £100.

It's the one almost everybody seems to use, including me. Works just fine - flash and ambient, incident and reflected light readings.

I started of using the 308’s but now use Minolta Flash Meter IV. They regularly sell for about £70 on ebay . They have a has a wider range of functions, including the ability to meter non sync flash, average a number of readings, memory etc.
