Lightroom develop settings

I think early senility is setting in.
i am trying to copy develop settings from one to multiple photos
I have tried various different ways but none appear to be working, it’s probably me!!
on an iMac
Help please

Right click on the image you want to copy settings of, in the drop down menu click development settings, in the next menu click copy, then select which settings you want to copy. Then select the images you what to copy the settings to, right click, development settings, then paste.

Select all the images in grid view. Click on the source of the settings. Press sync settings, bottom right hand corner,

I also use the "sync" method above.

in the end the only thing I got to work was
select image to copy from, select images to copy to and use copy from previous setting it then all worked

Select the image you want to copy edits from. The select the images you want to past the edits to using CMD-Click.
Then click "Sync" at the bottom of the slides panel.
A dialog will appear asking you to check which edits you want to paste.

From memory.. I think Sync syncs metadata only. You need to press Sync Settings.

Syncs metadata in Library mode, develop settings in Develop mode.
