I am thinking of creating a website to post my photos to and trying to find a cheap and easy way to get started. I tried to search for posts about using lightroom gallery but I guess my search terms or patience was not good enough. I am an amateur but want something that I can post my photos to so I can give out a web address and contact for people to get in touch after/during events if they see something they like.
Initially I need some kind of cheap hosting, basic site where I can post photos so if people see something they can get in touch. Looking at storage limits on cheap hosting it seems to make sense to post only resized images rather than full size that have been auto sized, sharpened and watermarked in some basic workflow in lightroom.
Am I right in thinking that lightroom only creates the gallery pages and I'd need to do some basic html to get a front page, menu, contact, about etc pages setup.
I looked at stuff like moonfruit but wasn't sure if this was a good option, the space and features seemed relatively limited until you start paying a reasonable monthly amount and I'm sure buying just a hosting platform with php and mysql or something I could build something more cost effectively over time if I was so inclined and had sufficient space.
Can anyone guide me on the best starting point? or am I better off just using flickr?
The only other issue I will have is thinking of a good name but that's not really a question for here/now but wish me luck!
