I am sick of Apple Aperture issues and inconsistent RAW conversion results and overall slowness. I would like to switch to the Lightroom. This will be a return home for me as I used the LR before. I still own an older Lightroom 3.x license so I should be eligible for upgrade. Unfortunately, I can't use the version I have as it does not support RAWs from D600.

However, I am thinking if it is a good idea to purchase the upgrade right now. There is a beta of LR5 and I would definitely prefer to get the LR5 instead of LR4 when I am purchasing the upgrade.

Do you know if it the customers who purchase LR now will be eligible for free upgrade to 5?

Or would it be better to use Beta for now and upgrade once there is a final version of LR5?

When will 5 be full release? And anyone know how much for the upgrade?

There's an update for 4 currently [4.4], for anyone interested. 25 cam's added, inc the D7100, not much else really.

On the Adobe website it states
"When you install Lightroom 5 beta, the software will remain active through June 2013".
This seems to indicate that either the final version will be out by then or another beta/RC will be out. I'd hold off paying for anything right now if i was you. Just get the the current beta of LR5 and see how you go.
Most things are working to a usable standard and you can get a feel for the rather useful new features, although image output hasn't been improved (not a bad thing in itself).

As above, I think I'd be waiting for the LR5 before you purchase...

With regards to upgrade version - why not see what the price difference is between this and the non upgrade version - might be worth selling the LR3 if there isn't a lot of difference in price...
