Lightweight lenses

I have an interest in lightweight gear.... and did a little digging...

I found that the Panasonic micro 4/3rds format has a lens weighing just 55g.

Are wide angle lenses like this 14mm usually smaller and lighter?

Olympus has a 9mm fisheye that weighs 30g!
AND is just a little thicker than a body cap.
The answer to your question is no, depends on the make, camera, fit etc., and yes if you are on one of the smaller formats.

And I considered my 24-70mm mkII light. Oh, well we learn something new every day

Do you need forceps or some special gear to handle those?

This is one of the appeals of the whole MFT range - small and light.

Compared to a FF DSLR and pro-type lenses there is a massive difference in size and weight which for some makes the difference between leaving the camera bag at home and taking it out and shooting again.

Some 14mm lenses are actually really big and heavy! Looking at something like the Samyang 14mm f2.8 for Full Frame or Crop DSLR's its quite a beast!

Most of the lenses for Micro 4/3 cameras are generally quite small!
