Linear polarisers

Quick question.

I'm thinking about adding a 105mm pola to my lee kit, I know a circular style should usually be used with AF cameras. However, if i was to manually focus would I have any issues? I assume this is OK, but wanted to check before I spend out any money.

Yes, but unless the difference in price is large you're better off going for the C-Pol simply because in 3/6/12 months time when you decide you do want AF you won't be buying a C-Pol as well....

It's rarely to do with autofocus - the bigger problem with some SLR cameras and polarisers is in the exposure system. However, it's worth checking your camera with a linear polariser to see, as they are cheaper for a given quality level than circular polarisers. I know that for Pentax, apart from one body, all of their SLR and dslr models since the 60's are ok with linear polarisers. If you use a mirrorless system then there's also no problem

I will be looking at the 105mm polas, these are not cheap. I want to use it with my lee holder/big stopper and in this combination I never use AF, plus I hare a circ polarisers for my lenses when I want to use AF.

If exposure is affected then it's a no go.
My camera is a 5DII.
