Links to Flickr - Copyright question

I noticed the other day that one of my pictures on Flickr had been linked from another site. Basically it had a smaller version of my photo on and people could click on it and it linked to my photostream. It's not that I'm really fused about it but is this a breach of copyright as my image is being used or as its a link is it just part and parcel of using Flickr?

I don't think so? ..... It's one of the joys of Flickr :D

The terms of usage on flickr is that if you are embedding a photograph somewhere then it must always link back to the flickr page that it originates from. You can stop people embedding your images in your settings page but it's never going to stop determined people stealing your images.

Wouldn't it depend on the usage rights you set on the image? surely 'All Rights Reserved' means just that?

I know there are a lot of 'Creative Commons' images on Flickr where the link back is usually part of the usage rights.

Of course I could be barking up the wrong tree here and am happy to be corrected.

Paul.

If you're photos are set to all rights reserved then the embed code is hidden from people. But that won't stop them viewing the source code to get the path to the image.

If you go to the Privacy and Permissions page in your profile then you can set everything there. There are some handy things like hiding your images from searches made on sites that use the Flickr API for example.

Cheers for the info. I have got all rights reserved and disable most stuff. I'll check the rest.
