Said to my wife at the end of Queen set , that was the best 22 mins of the whole concert years ago, snd still is now, Wembley just "erupted". At my age all my music "heroes" are going to the big concert in the sky, long may I outlive 'em.Queen just stole the show for me, seeing first time around and 40 years on.
Quo should have played much later than they did, Francis Rossi and wee Freddie now headlining the concert in the sky.As a Quo fan I was able to doze off later![]()
Oops , of course he is. Not good with Sunday mornings, despite no alcohol last night.AFAIK, Mr Rossi is still with us; his band mate Rick Parfitt isn't.
I was working the night of Band Aid and the landlord of the venue said he'd match the whip-round total that the band organized. Not sure he was expecting them to raise just shy of £450!
Francis Rossi was on the breakfast news on the Monday and said it was a deliberate choice to go on first - they thought they'd be able to do their bit and leave as they both lived near Wembley at the time! Apparently, not only did none of them realise what they'd signed up for in terms of size, they also had an attitude of 'turn up play, run' with all their gigs, rather than dressing room drinks ad wind downs....Quo should have played much later than they did, Francis Rossi and wee Freddie now headlining the concert in the sky.
Just watching live aid on tv and how nice is it not to have thousands of phone camera waving in the air like people do these days. Must of been great watching a festival with your eyes live rather than thru a small lcd screen.![]()
