Nice composition

What I don't like is an obvious very heavy grad filter darkening even the rocks to well below even the levels of foreground. Personally white balance could be a touch warmer looking at the sand.

i see what you mean about the rocks on the left-hand side, but that was just the natural texture and tones on the rocks I'm afraid - no heavy grad used. i've added the RAW file SooC. I did think about lifting the levels but didn't want to carry out too much editing. i think i cropped and adjusted the levels - but that was about it. spent more time clearing away dust spots!!! think i REALLY need to spend a little time cleaning the sensor
