Is there anyone local to me (Bolton, Lancs) willing to meet up for an hour or so to show me the ropes with my Nikon D3000.
Previous to this I had really only used point and shoots but thought I would get the hang of things...but can't seem to get my head round this ISO, aperture and exposure business.

I have the lens that came with the camera (18-55mm) and a 50mm f1/8.

Thanks :help:

One hour is a lot better than nothing and should help to point you in the right direction, but don't expect to become an expert overnight!

Have a read of this tutorial, which was written for peeps like you. It is of course brilliant, as are the other tutorials on here http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=99841

I bought a 'Jumpstart' DVD for my camera, they do lots although I've not checked if your's is one. It does what you're asking, a bit quickly sometimes, but you can rewind. The big advantage being you can watch it again & again until it sinks in. It's not great viewing, but is an easy guide.
